Board

The board works to follow the words of Jesus, to 'proclaim liberty to the captives', which is taken to mean in this instance to enable people with disabilities in developing countries to participate fully as possible in life.

  • Wayne Freeman
    Wayne is chairman of the board. He has a background in accounting and was manager of Agfa New Zealand and then Wycliffe NZ for a number of years. Wayne has visited many developing countries in past years and has an understanding of various cultures as a result.
  • Paul Donnell
    Paul is an accountant and worked for many years at a chartered accountancy firm in Auckland City. He now works for consulting chemists and has an accountancy firm, Bonafide Accounting Ltd, with Wayne Freeman. Paul specialises in small business accounting so his expertise is invaluable in watching over and managing Altus Resource Trust's financial affairs.
  • Caryl Freeman
    Caryl is the mother of four adults and grandmother of eight. She brings wisdom to the board that she has gained travelling the world and interacting with various cultures in developing countries.
  • Sue Donnell
    Sue initiated the formation of Altus Resource Trust and is the main contact person. She has a background in physiotherapy and is passionate about people with disabilities in developing countries being able to participate fully in family and community life.
  • Michelle Johnston
    Michelle was the Manager of an early childhood centre in Epsom, Auckland, for many years, retiring early in 2023. The experience managing her own business gave her a wealth of knowledge which she has brought to her role as a trustee for Altus Resource Trust.
  • John Rice
    John was princpal of the Rural Campus of Dilworth School, Auckland until a few years ago. He brings to Altus Resource Trust wisdom gleaned from his years as a manager at AUT and Dilworth School to his role on the board.
